By having minimum turnout standards, you're guaranteed to meet enough people to give you a good chance of getting one or more participants wanting to hear from you again. Our goal is to hold the events we schedule and are very careful about scheduling events to ensure they are successful. How long does a session take? Each session takes about an hour and a half to two hours depending on turnout and whether food is served at the event.
How much time do I have to talk to someone? Typically 6 minutes per person but depending upon attendance and other factors you may have 5 minutes or as high as 7 minutes.
Speed Dating in Chicago
We'll let you know how much time you have before we start the event. Remember, you're not on a date, you're on a "Pre-Date! Sometimes 6 minutes is way too long, if you know what we mean. But in 6 minutes most people can tell if there's physical chemistry, if they like the way someone speaks, if the person is mature and intelligent, and if they want to know more.
At which point they'd select YES on their Match Sheet that they would like to hear from that person again! What should I talk about? You'll see that once you start the event everything just flows. One tip, think about what you'd want to know before going on a date with the person. Some people ask harmless easy questions like "What hobbies do you have" or "What area of town do you live in" and others ask tough questions like "When is the last time you lied to someone".
The possibilities are endless but relax and try not to be too serious, just have fun. Another tip, try to avoid the more mundane questions like "what do you do" and "where are you from" as this can be repetitive.

While obvious, it's surprising how many people make the mistake of talking about an ex, or focuses almost the entire speed-date on themself and what they do, etc. Try to stand out and differentiate yourself from the others in a positive way. Tasteful humor and a light hearted demeanor go a long way. And if you are sitting across from someone you're not attracted to, please remember that they still have a story to tell.
I've attended before, how do you make sure I don't meet the same people? Good question and a valid concern especially since many people return to participate in our events. Don't be shut out, simply click on your city and then click on the Register link for the event you want to attend now before the event fills up!

To ensure the best possible experience, each event has a maximum capacity and our system is programmed with this information. When one gender fills up, it may temporarily pause event registrations for that gender to allow the other gender to "catch up" so the event stays gender balanced. However, we often add people from that event's Waiting List so we encourage you to sign up for that.
The Waiting List link will be shown only when the session you're interested in is full. Can I sign up with a friend? Naturally, in fact we encourage it. Sign up with two or three! However, each person needs to register separately using their own email address, so that matches made from the event can be emailed to them directly and confidentially.
An event may be in the works but isn't listed on the Web site yet. Also, we may be looking for a new Event Coordinator host for your city. Join Our Mailing List so you'll be the first to know about newly scheduled events. I like the concept! If you've got even a little bit of entrepreneur in you we would love to discuss it.
It's part time, fun, you're helping people and you can make some extra money. If you're seriously interested, please check to make sure we don't already have a Coordinator for your area and then contact us now through our Become A Coordinator page. A group of single men and women with equal numbers of both sex meet up for a few hours. Each man sits down facing a woman, and they have five minutes to get to know one another and see whether there's a 'spark' — that elusive chemistry you often hear about in movies. After the five minutes are up, a bell will ring and the men will move onto the next table to get to know a different woman.
The rotation continues until every man and woman at the event have been introduced. It's easy to see why the phenomenon of speed dating caught on so quickly — it gives single people the chance to be introduced to a multitude of new faces and personalities in a short space of time. Those who are stuck in a dating rut or looking to meet someone that isn't a 'friend of a friend' can find totally new acquaintances at these events — and even if they don't exchange phone numbers at the end of the night, a great time can still be had by all!
Speed dating is often compared to that other dating phenomenon of our generation — online dating. But one of the key things missing from online dating is that crucial real-life chemistry that can ignite between two people that wouldn't ordinarily pick each other out on a dating site. Online dating encourages single people to stick with their own 'type' and choose people with similar interests to them based on a brief and often exaggerated!
That's how true love is found! If you're now feeling like you want to try a speed dating session for yourself, good for you! You might be feeling a little nervous about the event — but don't panic. Here are some tips to ensure you have a great time on your speed dating journey:.
Try not to have too many expectations about your speed dating event. Sure, it's great to imagine that George Clooney or Megan Fox might sit down opposite you and strike up a conversation, but the reality might actually be much more interesting. You'll meet new people that aren't in your normal social circle, so come with an open mind and be prepared to get to know them!
Sure, speed dating is a great way to find a new love interest, but it's also a good way to meet new friends! There are equal numbers of men and women at every speed dating event, so there's just as much of an opportunity to meet some new gal pals or fellow bachelors as there is to potentially meet 'The One'. Do whatever you have to do in order to feel confident. Whether that means having a glass of wine during the event, or wearing a glamorous dress that makes you feel great, the more confident you feel, the more you'll feel able to talk openly to the new people you're about to meet.
